Piemontesi Nel Mondo of Northern California is a 501(c)3 not for profit educational organization dedicated to the preservation and celebration of the culture, traditions, heritage and foodways of the Piemonte region of Italy and its people.
About Us
We publish two newsletters to our members, a Boletin which includes articles written in English and Piemontese (see a sample in our membership section), and an events newsletter. We hold activities and events that mirror those held in Piemonte currently and historically. We gather information about all things Piemontese: geography, recipes, sports, government, commerce, monuments and family traditions. We extoll the values of bicherin’ (a strong coffee bolstered with premium chocolate and cream), bagna caoda (the unique common pot dinner with anchovies, garlic, oil and butter), risotto (Piemonte is the main rice producing region in Europe), and family recipes. We sing the songs of the region, the marches and the romantic. We hold classes in the Piemontese language (with over 2 million Piemontese speakers worldwide, we are the only source of lessons and study group in the language of which we are aware). We share the stories of family immigrants and strive to preserve the best of the Piemontese heritage. Membership is open for those with a Piemontese heritage or anyone who loves them. We welcome all.
